SelectCoder Tip of the Week

ICD-10-CM code K67.2 is used to report radiation proctitis. Coders should assign an additional code from category W88.- (exposure to ionizing radiation) to identify radiation exposure, or code Y84.2 (radiological procedure and radiotherapy as the cause of abnormal reaction of the patient, or of later complication, without mention of misadventure at the time of the procedure) if documentation indicates exposure was an adverse effect or abnormal reaction of a radiological procedure.
