ICD-10-CM code Q39.1 (atresia of esophagus with tracheo-esophageal fistula) is used for a congenital tracheoesophageal fistula (TE fistula). A fistula as a complication of a tracheostomy is reported with code J95.04 (tracheo-esophageal fistula following tracheostomy).
