Coders should use ICD-10-CM code O90.81 (anemia of the puerperium) to report diagnosed anemia complicating the postpartum period. They should use a code from subcategory O99.01- to report anemia complicating pregnancy, and code O99.03 to report pre-existing anemia complicating the puerperium.
