SelectCoder Tip of the Week

Do not assign an ICD-10-CM code from J32.- (chronic sinusitis) when sinusitis is reported as acute or infectious, unless the patient is reported to have both the chronic and acute form of sinusitis. If both forms are reported as confirmed in the medical record, assign separate and specific codes for each.
