SelectCoder Tip of the Week

Conditions classified to ICD-10-CM codes under category N14.- (drug- and heavy-metal-induced tubulo-interstitial and tubular conditions) indicate nephropathy due to drugs, metals, or other toxic exposure. When one of these conditions has been specifically reported, first assign the appropriate code from T36-T65 when the condition is due to a poisoning. Or, to indicate adverse effect, assign a second code from T36-T50 following the appropriate N14.- code.
