SelectCoder Tip of the Week

When a patient presents with both coronary artery disease or atherosclerotic heart disease and angina, an ICD-10-CM code from subcategory I25.11- (atherosclerotic heart disease of native coronary artery with angina pectoris) should be assigned. If the specific type of angina is not specified in the clinical record, assign code I25.119 (atherosclerotic heart disease of native coronary artery with unspecified angina pectoris).
