SelectCoder Tip of the Week

Pneumonia should be coded to the specific causative organism using a combination code when a specific code is available. When the causative organism of bacterial pneumonia is known but no combination code exists, coders should report ICD-10-CM code J15.8 (pneumonia due to other specified bacteria).
