Mueller wrapping up? Various news organizations, including the Washington Post, are reporting tonight that Special Counsel Robert Mueller could wrap up his investigation as early as next week. This has been consistent with what the NBC News reporting team has been saying for the past month: That Mueller is winding down his sprawling investigation into Russia election interference and possible links between Trump campaign associates and the Russian government. But then what next? Attorney General William Barr will receive the report and then decide what to make available to Congress and to the public. NBC News’ Pete Williams explains what's ahead. And with President Trump consistently publicly discrediting the investigation, who will people believe IF Mueller's report is released? Cohen to testify in public hearing: President Donald Trump’s former personal attorney Michael Cohen will appear before the House Oversight Committee for a public hearing on Feb. 27. A federal judge also agreed to postpone the start of Cohen's prison stint for 60 days as he recovers from shoulder surgery. Roger Stone in court Thursday: Judge Amy Berman Jackson could send Roger Stone to jail after Stone posted a photo of the judge on Instagram Monday afternoon with crosshairs in the background next to her head. Judge Jackson, who is presiding over Stone's prosecution in D.C. federal court, scheduled a hearing for Thursday afternoon to discuss "why the media contact order entered in this case and/or his conditions of release should not be modified or revoked in light of the posts on his Instagram account." The judge's options include revoking Stone's bail. Stay tuned to MSNBC for the latest. |
