Fireflies to become Kansas City affiliate

The Columbia Fireflies will remain affiliated with Major League Baseball for at least the next 10 years as part of a new relationship with the Royals. The Fireflies are one of 120 minor league teams that will have a direct MLB connection.

S.C. unemployment claims climb above 5,000 for week

The 5,109 claims for the week ending Dec. 5 nearly doubled the previous week’s total and marked the first time claims topped 5,000 in two months. Spartanburg County saw a state-high 585 claims filed.

SETi expanding Richland County operations

The $55 million expansion of the company’s Atlas Court facility is expected to create 40 jobs. Founded in 1999, Sensor Electronic Technology Inc. manufactures and sells ultraviolet LED products for use in industries such as biomedical devices and appliances.
