with Matthew Albright | Assistant metro editorIf you want to understand the magnitude of the scandal unfolding at LSU, read the first few paragraphs of this story, which sums up the revelations yesterday about the university's handling of alleged sexual misconduct and domestic violence. The fallout continued into Friday night, when the University of Kansas announced football coach Les Miles, who is accused of sexually harassing students when he was at LSU, was being placed on administrative leave. Those weren't the only bombshells that dropped Friday. When a Baton Rouge Police Department officer got arrested, he wrote a memo alleging widespread corruption in the narcotics unit, where he worked. BRPD later arrested another officer and moved four other officers into the patrol division, effectively cutting the narcotics unit in half. The Advocate obtained the officer's memo, and it makes startling claims that officers stole drugs, conducted illegal searches, and coerced prostitutes into setting up drug dealers, among other misconduct.
