Kate Wolf's family presents a concert in memory of the late California folk singer/songwriter on her 80th birthday. The Freight & Salvage in Berkeley hosts the concert on Saturday, January 29, 2022. The concert will benefit Hospitality House – co-founded by Kate’s longtime friend Bruce “Utah” Phillips – which provides shelter and other critical services to homeless people in Nevada County, California.
Kate often performed at the Freight & Salvage when it was a small coffee house that held under 100 people. Performers warmed up in the stock room, and Kate (and her son) sold records from the stage during intermission. She also participated in many benefits at the Freight and in Berkeley, so we'd like to extend the tradition by having this party also be a benefit...this time for Hospitality House.
The evening features women who performed with Kate, who were influenced by her, or have continued to share Kate’s memory and music. The lineup includes Alisa Fineman, Barbara Higbie, Laurie Lewis, Crys Matthews, Vicki Randle, and Cris Williamson. There’s also the band Duo Quartet, featuring Nina Gerber (Kate’s longtime accompanist), Chris Webster, Pam Delgago, and Jeri Jones. And of course, the ensemble will close with Kate's song “Give Yourself To Love”.
Kate's family hopes you'll join us – in-person or online – for another wonderful evening of Kate Wolf memories and songs.
