BiographyKathryn's artwork focuses on the lifestyle of the ranching family and their livestock. Her early childhood on her grandparent's ranch in central Montana start a passion for the western culture and she hopes to share that passion with her viewer. She developed an interest in art early in her life. Starting with graphite and then moving to colored pencil and oils, Kathryn continues to develop her skills with the encouragement and support of a loving family. Her education has been informal. It has consisted of local classes with several talented local instructors, workshops, books and viewing good art. Kathryn now resides in rural Oklahoma. Working in a studio near their home allows her to be near her dog and horses. She feels staying close to her subjects helps her portray a more honest and moving piece of artwork. Spending as much time as possible with local ranch families, has allowed her to depict images true to the lifestyle so many yearn to be a part of. Her work has appeared at the Rusty Gables Spring Stampede, Cowboy True, Trappings of Texas, AQHA's America's Horse in Art, and Small Works Great Wonders at the Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. Several of Kathryn's paintings have appeared on the cover of the Oklahoma Cowman Magazine. Her work has also been featured in the Oklahoma Farm and Ranch Magazine, Oklahoma Horse, AQHA's Ranch Horse Journal, and the coffee table book, Artser. "I feel blessed to have been bestowed with the God given gift of visual storytelling and I want to share the story of the people who still carry the values and character that our great country was founded on, the American Ranching Family."
