Sample policy for dissemination of privileging information

With numerous practitioners on your medical staff—and each with their own unique combination of privileges—it can be hard for an organization to ensure that providers are practicing within their scope of practice. This sample policy ensures that information regarding each practitioner’s scope of privileges is disseminated and made available to all appropriate internal persons or entities and updated as changes in clinical privileges are made. This policy also lays out the steps a hospital staff member should take if they are unsure that a practitioner has the appropriate privileges to treat a patient.

The Credentialing and Privileging Toolbox: Field-Tested Documents for Compliance, Management, and Process Improvement

With over 50 field-tested, expert-vetted forms that support regulatory compliance, policy development, and process improvement, The Credentialing and Privileging Toolbox lightens the research load so MSPs and medical staff leaders have more time for their frontline duties fostering high-quality care and patient safety.

Inspired by our popular OPPE and FPPE toolboxes, The Credentialing and Privileging Toolbox offers a bevy of sample forms, policies, bylaws, case studies, letters, auditing tools, checklists, and related resources that healthcare organizations of various scopes, sizes, and service focuses are using to execute effective practitioner vetting processes.

In addition to the array of sample forms, The Credentialing and Privileging Toolbox is chock-full of expert guidance from author Merella Schandl, BS, CPMSM, CPCS that eases the transition from page to practice. Chapter introductions provide contemporary context, while targeted analysis within each tool highlights areas worth emulating and offers tips for tailoring content to fit facility needs.
