Fest Lawsuit Update: Jazz Fest tickets ain’t cheap. And two former presidents of the board that oversees the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival took the witness stand Wednesday to say that, yes, they would suffer “irreparable harm” if the flow of tickets and other freebies is cut off. The perks, they testified, were part of an “implied contract” for their years of service, Keith Spera reports.

Federal Investigation: Former state Sen. Karen Carter Peterson, who suddenly resigned her elected post last week, is "cooperating fully" with a federal invesigation targeting her, Carter's attorney said. The attorney's comments were the first public acknowlegement of the federal probe.
Demanding Decorum: Mike Cooper has shed the political gloves in St. Tammany. The parish president posted an open letter to some Parish Council members, demanding an apology, chiding them for name-calling and accusing them of fanning public distrust over a parish water system that serves several thousand customers. Reaction from one of the council members? Don’t hold your breath, Mr. President. Stay tuned for more on this one.
