Ken Ferrie: Plan Now to Have a Productive 2023
 
Plan now to assemble your team to review yield maps and accompanying information. The team includes everyone you relied on to get the 2022 crop in the field, through the growing season, harvested and then in the bin, suggests Ken Ferrie, Farm Journal Field Agronomist.
 
 

While most lenders saw overall farm profitability increase in the past year, they are projecting a decline in the next 12 months, according to the 2022 Agricultural Lender Survey report by the American Bankers Association and Farmer Mac.

 
 

As we approach year-end, you are likely prepaying for 2023 farm inputs. The deduction is allowed even though the inputs have not yet been delivered to the farmer. However, in order for the deduction to be allowed, you need to follow certain rules.

 
 

At this year’s COP in Egypt, many leaders said the global agricultural sector can reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but the industry will need considerable more investment in climate finance, especially in the research and development arena, to fully realize that potential.
