KQED’s award-winning restaurant review program Check, Please! Bay Area returns with seven new episodes featuring delicious dining experiences from around the region.
Firstly, we’re excited to let you know that Check, Please! Bay Area has received two nominations for the 15th Annual Taste Awards! The first is for the Best Food Program (Television), and the other is the Viewers Choice Award for the Best City or Regional Program and we could really use your help getting out the vote! Here’s the link to the voting page – and although we encourage you to familiarize yourself with all of the listed programs, voting in every category is optional. Voting closes on February 17 and we’d really appreciate the support – feel free to encourage your friends, family and anyone else in your network to vote, too! |

From reimagined Eastern European dishes with Californian flair to modern Hawaiian vibes infused with retro arcade energy to Japanese-Italian fusion, we have top picks and best bites from everyday viewers around the Bay! In each episode, three Bay Area residents recommend their favorite eateries as well as the dishes they just can’t resist, and then their fellow guests go check them out. After sampling one another’s top picks, they join Host Leslie Sbrocco in the studio to discuss, dispute, and celebrate their dining experiences.
Be sure to tune in on Thursday, January 25, as we dive into flavorful, fresh and nourishing Native American cuisine at Wahpepah’s Kitchen in Oakland, a creative and innovative selection of vegan Singaporean, Chinese and Italian small plates at Lion Dance Cafe in Oakland, and vibrant, veggie-centric dishes inspired by the Gujarati cuisine of India in a modern and contemporary space at Besharam in San Francisco.
