A metal detector and a mystery: Class ring found 53 years later Have you ever lost something meaningful, like a piece of jewelry? Itβs not always a lost cause, as one Ohio man found out during the search for his high school class ring that was missing for more than 50 years. John Schick was 17 when he lost the ring while washing a car in the backyard of his parentsβ house in 1967. Last year, he moved into a house only two doors down from his childhood home and started to think about that old ring again. He reached out to a metal detector hobbyist on Facebook for help and got permission from the current owners to search the backyard. It didnβt go well at first, and they almost called it quits when the detector found it! The ring looked brand new because, like this story, it was pure gold. Not everything is that personally valuable, so why keep it? Tap or click here to find out about selling the junk in your attic that could be worth big bucks. β |
