Welcome to a spectacular Saturday, friends! If you’re shopping, I have some fabulous ideas to help you finish your list. Before we jump in, though, trivia! What year was the term “Cyber Monday” introduced? Was it … A.) 1997, B.) 2004, C.) 2005 or D.) 2009? Answer’s at the end!

🎁 Instead of the usual newsletter, it’s all shopping today. (OK, I snuck in a few tech tips.) Hope you find something great, then put down your phone, and get outside or spend some time with your loved ones. That’s what I’m doing today! See you tomorrow with an action-packed regular issue. — Kim

♟️ A group of chess enthusiasts had checked into a hotel, and they were standing in the lobby discussing their recent tournament victories. After about an hour, the manager approached and requested they disperse. “But why?” they asked. “Because,” the manager said, “I can’t stand chess nuts boasting in an open foyer.”

TECH LIFE UPGRADES

Hanging Christmas decorations? Or maybe a new piece of art. Grab your phone instead of finding a level. On iPhone, open the preinstalled Measure app. Tap Level, then hold your iPhone against an object. On Android, open the Google app and search for “bubble level.”

Vroom-vroom! Here’s a faster way to navigate when you have lots of tabs open. Hit Ctrl + 1, 2, 3 and so on to go to that tab number. On Mac, it’s Cmd + a number. To cycle through tabs, hit Ctrl + Tab on Windows or Cmd + Tab on Mac.

🌞 It’s gorgeous in Arizona: Do your future self a favor and plan a post-holiday trip to Phoenix. The homes on HolidayRental.com* are just beautiful (yep, my old house is there!) and big enough for all your favorite people to stay. Book with my link to get four free massages (valued at $1,000!).

Quick fix: Most of us have unlimited phone plans, but our phones still search for an open Wi‑Fi connection to save data. Weak Wi‑Fi slows you down and puts you at risk if you connect to an unsecured or untrustworthy network. Skip the menus and ask Siri or Google Assistant to do it. A simple “Hey, Siri, turn off my Wi-Fi” will do the trick.

You’re welcome: You need to see where a family member’s flight is and when it lands. These are the best apps for that.

UNTIL NEXT TIME ...

The answer: C.) 2005. The National Retail Foundation’s Shop[.]org created the term 18 years ago. That first year, consumers spent $484 million online. Flash forward to 2022, when we spent $11 billion. So, yeah, that worked. Speaking of … Monday and Tuesday are my most productive days. After that, it’s WTF!

🎁 “Oh, Kim, I need a gift for my dog walker/cranky mother-in-law/picky husband/13-year-old!” I’ll help you shop, friend. Reply to this email or drop me a note.

🤗 The best way for me to grow this newsletter is for you to share it. So go ahead and forward this email to one person. Enjoy this beautiful Saturday, no matter what you’re doing today. Hope you save some big bucks if you’re shopping, get some good rest if you’re taking it easy, and have lots of laughs if you’re spending time with loved ones. I’ll be back in your inbox tomorrow with the best newsletter in the USA! — Kim
