A snow system is producing light snow across central Minnesota

NOAA’s HRRR model and others crank out a zone of 3 to 6 inches in western Minnesota, with a lighter band of a coating to around 2 inches running into and just north of the Twin Cities.

With temperatures in the teens across most of Minnesota through Friday, roads will become snowy and slick, especially northwest of the Twin Cities. Use caution and expect slick roads in areas that pick up snowfall through Friday.

Researcher: Better response needed to school threats
Several Minnesota school districts closed buildings Friday in response to unspecified threats of school violence on the social media platform TikTok.
 
U of M settles harassment claim, will pay student $75K
In an agreement facilitated by the state’s Human Rights agency, the University of Minnesota will pay a graduate student and allow her to finish her degree tuition-free. She had accused a professor of sexual harassment.
 
Update: One teen found safe, another remains missing
Authorities found a 15-year-old Andover girl safe Friday, two days after they sought the public’s help in finding her and a 14-year Roseville boy, who remains missing. 
 
Mpls. police, mayor to focus on juvenile offenders to curb robberies, carjacking
Mayor Jacob Frey and incoming interim police Chief Amelia Huffman unveiled their first major public safety initiative, saying they plan to redouble efforts to reduce carjacking and robberies.
