Dear John,

Do you remember the first time you fell in love with reading as a child? Can you relive the moment you first put pencil to paper and discovered something about yourself? Create that possibility for a Bay Area child. Your gift today will kindle the love of reading and writing for a lifetime.

Litquake’s two-day Kidquake program reaches thousands of Bay Area K–5 children each year. Eighty percent are children of color from more than 60 local public schools. For many, it’s the first time literature comes alive as students:

  • Hear from  writers and illustrators about their journey to becoming children’s book creators, and they see characters in books that look like them
  • Meet and talk to authors in person and receive free books for home and the classroom
  • See their cultures and family traditions celebrated on a major stage

And most importantly, children learn that they can dream big and make a difference in their world through their own stories.

Warmly,
Norah Piehl, Executive Director
P.S. Your gift can impact a child’s life at a critical stage and help raise another generation of literature lovers. Give now.
