with Bob WarrenTomorrow is Jan. 6. For many Christians, it’s the Epiphany, the day in the Bible when the three kings arrived in Bethlehem to behold the baby Jesus. It also marks the start of the Mardi Gras season. And that means you can start feasting on king cake. (Officially, anyway – some of you may have already downed a wedge or two.) Like so many other things these days, this Carnival season will be, well, different. Weird. Strange. The coronavirus pandemic might have canceled our parades, but area bakers, many who depend on king cake season to carry them for the year, tell our Ian McNulty it can’t cancel our sweet tooth. Meanwhile, New Orleans public schools announced they are moving to an online-only model for the next couple of weeks as COVID-19 cases spike in the city and across the region. Columnist Jeff Asher says it may be time for more restrictions. Chalk the locker room celebrations up as another thing we love about the Saints when they win. They were at it again after Sunday’s victory at Carolina – and this time the brooms came out, Jeff Nowak reports. Are you a subscriber? If you’re not, please consider subscribing here.
