April 1, 2020 is Census Day in the United States -- when the U.S. government counts the population in order to inform political representation and allocate funds for resources like infrastructure, college aid and social programs. Looming over California getting an accurate census count this year are issues of housing insecurity, displacement from wildfires, and a lack of trust in the process that can make communities “hard to count.” During this live Forum, in partnership with Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, we look at the hard-to-count communities in the Bay Area and California, as well as the creative ways organizations are working to reach those communities to make sure everyone is counted. | | |
