Soren Kragh Andersen became the fourth rider with two stage wins at the 107th Tour de France after van Aert, Ewan and Pogacar. Boosted by his win in Lyon, the Dane went for another solo ride but a longer one this time as he escaped a 12-man leading group including the three green jersey contenders Bennett, Sagan and Trentin with 16km to go.

Key figure of the day

Kragh Andersen's solo win at Champagnole offered Sunweb its 3rd success on this Tour. All of them have been claimed in solo (with Hirschi at Sarran and Kragh Andersen, already, at Lyon). The last time a team won 3 stages in solo on the same Tour was in 2014. Tinkoff had won 3 stages with Rafal Majka (at Risoul and Saint-Lary-Soulan) and Michael Rogers (at Bagnères-de-Luchon), every time in solo.

Also in 2014, Astana did it as well 4 times, with one rider only : Vincenzo Nibali (at Sheffield, la Planche des Belles Filles, Chamrousse and Hautacam).
