A photograph shows two people, visible from behind, looking down over an interior courtyard. They are behind a railing and next to a column. A large metallic hanging modern sculpture is suspended from the ceiling of the courtyard. In the background, the arches of a second-floor corridor across the courtyard are visible, and large paintings hang on the wall.

In partnership with the Harvard Graduate School of Design, a major new commission by internationally renowned artist Krzysztof Wodiczko is now on view at the Harvard Art Museums! Krzysztof Wodiczko: Portrait brings the debate around democracy into the galleries through a new projection-installation that activates the Harvard Art Museums’ iconic late 18th-century portrait of George Washington with voices, faces, and opinions from across the political spectrum today.

Wodiczko is well known for his public projections tackling a wide range of subjects—from homelessness to war veterans. He engages and gains the trust of marginalized peoples to give them a voice using his artistic platform.

We look forward to seeing you!
