Kyren Lacy wanted in wake of crash

Former LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy was wanted on a count of negligent homicide, Louisiana State Police said Friday.

According to a news release, LSP was in communication with Lacy and his attorney about turning himself in.

The shocking news stems from a deadly crash that happened way back on Dec. 17 on La. 20 in Lafourche Parish. You can read all the details in our story here.

Obviously this story is tragic on several levels, first because there was a fatality involved and two other people were injured. But also, to a lesser degree, because Lacy's promising NFL future could now be in jeopardy.

Certainly we will continue to be on top of this story for you in the days and weeks to come, so check back with us frequently.

Meanwhile, LSU sports news goes on elsewhere. The LSU men's basketball team resumes its quest for SEC win No. 1 in a difficult place Saturday, traveling to face No. 23 Ole Miss in Oxford (5 p.m., SEC Network). The Tigers are 11-4 overall but 0-2 in the SEC after losses to Vanderbilt at home and at Missouri, and really need to start limiting turnovers to have a chance against the Rebels.

LSU women's basketball fans are still buzzing over the game-winning shot Kailyn Gilbert hit in the Tigers' dramatic 89-87 win Thursday at Tennessee to push LSU's record to 18-0 and 3-0 in SEC play. Gilbert has given the Tigers a big lift overall with a huge contribution off the bench, something LSU didn't have last season. Now the Tigers have an excellent chance to be 20-0 going to South Carolina on Jan. 23 for another major showdown with the Gamecocks. The Tigers host Vanderbilt at 6 p.m. Monday, then go to Florida on Jan. 19.

Finally, the No. 2-ranked LSU gymnastics team is in Oklahoma City on Saturday for a nationally televised four-team meet against Oklahoma, California and Utah. The return of star sophomore Konnor McClain from a disheartening Achilles injury in May has been a huge lift for the Tigers. She said she tried to have a different attitude in her recovery from this injury compared to previous ones. The meet begins at 3 p.m. on ABC.
