After attending the European Council meetings, the acting President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, said there is a need to approach the departure by the United Kingdom from the European Union with the "utmost calm, serenity and foresight".
In Brussels, where he will attend the European Council, the acting President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, said that Spain will continue to support greater European integration because more Europe is the solution to the departure by the United Kingdom. Furthermore, he said that he would like to form a government with the greatest parliamentary backing possible.
During a telephone interview on the Herrera en la COPE programme on Cadena COPE, the acting President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, expressed his willingness to speak with "the leaders of the other political parties" in order to come up with "a majority government formula".
An inter-ministerial work group will seek to promote the location of EU institutions and financial institutions, presently located in the United Kingdom, in Spain. The Council of Ministers also included the refurbishment of Guardia Civil accommodation within the scope of action of the Programme to Boost Agricultural Employment.
