Shallow grave: River rescue sinks to the bottomSometimes things aren’t quite what they seem — especially when it comes to viral photographs. Just ask the police in Annapolis, Maryland, who were extremely concerned to see photos of what appeared to be a coffin bobbing around in a local river. The Department of Natural Resources was dispatched to remove the coffin (and its presumed occupant), but the entire operation turned out to be nothing more than a wash; once it was pulled from the river, police realized it wasn’t a coffin, but a piece of a stone dock that must've broken off nearby. At the very least, that segment of the river won’t have any water hazards for anyone to worry about. We could forgive the police for thinking the slab was a coffin, because some coffin designs can be wild. Tap or click here to see the world’s most unusual fantasy caskets. → |
