Jeff Landry says he’s not endorsing $2.5 billion Blue Cross sale, but he likes the upside

Thanks for starting your Sunday with Morning Headlines. Here's are some of today's top stories.

Gov. Jeff Landry said he’s not pushing to sell the nonprofit Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana to one of the country's largest insurers. But in a speech to almost 200 Louisiana hospital executives last week, he echoed the same arguments used by Blue Cross executives to justify the divisive $2.5 billion deal.

Sunday’s weather forecast includes no rain until nighttime, and then only a 30% chance, so you’re unlikely to get soaked at the day’s nine (!) Carnival parades. Here’s the schedule, the weather forecast and photos from seven of Saturday’s parades: Choctaw, Pontchartrain, Nemesis, Mars, Freret, Spartan and Olympia. Whew!

Pistol Pete Maravich’s son thinks the LSU legend would have been a fan of Caitlin Clark, the Iowa basketball superstar who’s on pace to eclipse his late father as the all-time NCAA Division I scoring leader. Here’s how he contrasts her accomplishments with his father’s.
