Time Out No. #77 | Tuesday 28 September 2021

When the new James Bond film, ‘No Time to Die’, was originally announced, people got jazzed. Then it was delayed because of the pandemic. Then it got delayed again. Then it got delayed a third time. The creator of ‘The Haunting of Hill House’, Mike Flanagan is an expert in building creepy dread and jump shocks that will bounce you clean off your sofa and halfway to the kitchen. His latest, a seven-part series now on Netflix, is set on a spooky island beset by religious mania and strange goings-on. It's like ‘Lost’ meets ‘The Crucible’. Netflix.

This trippy fable is much better on the big screen, where its super-eerie Middle Ages vibes will curdle your very blood. If that isn't an option, Amazon Prime has you covered. Dev Patel is magnetic as a young Arthurian knight who sticks his head on the line (literally) in a wager with the monstrous Green Knight – forgetting the age-old gambling adage: When the fun stoppeth, stop. Amazon Prime.

Roll up for five episodes of bleak, brutal and superbly crafted whaling thriller starring Stephen Graham, Colin Farrell, Jack O’Connell at least one disgruntled whale. If you liked the BBC's 'The Terror' earlier this year, you'll know loosely what to expect: endless arctic ice, bursts of bloody violence and a cast of top actors with increasingly scraggly beards. BBC iPlayer.

There’s something about Nusret Gökçe, isn’t there? Something compelling. The man who rose to prominence by seasoning steak in an unorthodox fashion has finally opened his first London eatery in shiny Knightsbridge. What’s it like? In a word: expensive! Here’s what its first customers are saying about it.
