What a week it's been! Online betting services like FanDuel are working overtime as Coloradans are betting in record numbers over who will finally win the prestigious Californian of the Year Award. Today, we announced the 5th and final nominee for the prize that every socialist and smug social engineer envy like the Holy Grail. It is one thing to pass rules, regulations, and laws that turn our once freedom-loving state into the elitist’s paradise of California. It's entirely another thing to be the cheerleaders for those in power who injure your own business practices. In this case, it is the freedom to witness the governmental process in the sunshine. Yesterday's nominees were the lawmakers who sponsored the successful bill to exempt themselves from Colorado’s cherished Open Meetings Law. Today, we are proud to nominate the Colorado Press Association for this year's Californian of the Year Award. This organization of reporters awarded its “Defender of the Free Press Award” to the two legislators we nominated yesterday, the very lawmakers who banished the Press Association’s reporters from witnessing them create laws. In Nazi-controlled France, the Vichy government officials cheered on their tyrannical overlords, perhaps out of fear for their own existence. That might explain the action of today's nominee. Or perhaps Stockholm Syndrome does. Or perhaps it's just the sad psychology of an abused woman returning to her abuser. All we know is the Colorado press of old would have been incensed and outraged by the legislature kicking out their own reporters from public meetings. Should the Colorado Press Association win this year's Californian of the Year Award, we assume they will change their name to something more accurate - the East California Press Association. FanDuel is also taking bets on whether or not the Colorado Press Association will report on their nomination. Monday we will announce the grand winner and their prize! And please don't forget us on Colorado Gives Day. Help us reach our $100,000 goal. Think Freedom! |
