Dairy Tech Report Spotlights Environmental Benefits
 
By David Frabotta, director of climate-smart content, Trust In Food: Innovation in the dairy industry has delivered consistently better environmental outcomes plus feed efficiency, animal well-being and greater productivity. That’s according to a new report from the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) in partnership with National Milk Producers Federation and Dairy Farmers of America. “If the industry continues with its current trend of resource efficiency, in 2030, milk will be produced with 1.3 million fewer cows as compared to 2021,” the report notes.
 
 
 
 
Women In Ag Campaign From NCGA Seeks Connection With Consumers
 
By David Frabotta, director of climate-smart content, Trust In Food: A new campaign of the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) called “Find Our Common Ground” tells the great story of women in U.S. agriculture as a way to connect with consumers increasingly interested in where their food comes from and how it’s produced. “I know firsthand how scary it is to bet on yourself,” writes Iowa farmer and ChopLocal co-founder Katie Olthoff in a campaign blog post about her experiences as an entrepreneur. “But I’ve found that if I take that risk and work my tail off, great things can happen.”

With $3.1 Million In New Grants, Walmart’s Acres For America Program Surpasses Milestone Of 2 Million Acres Conserved (via National Fish and Wildlife Foundation)

By Rebecca Bartels, senior director of strategic partnerships, Trust In Food: New grants awarded for work in California and the Southeast will help safeguard water, recreational spaces and wildlife habitat for at-risk species across tens of thousands of acres, the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) announced in December. Grant recipients include Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife in collaboration with Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and The Nature Conservancy; The Conservation Fund; and Save the Redwoods League.

 
 

The Food Chain Should Be A Food Circle (via Wired)

By Nate Birt, vice president, Trust In Food: Focus on building the circular regenerative food and ag value chain, urges Ellen MacArthur, founder of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, in a new post. “2023 will signal the beginning of redevelopment of entire food portfolios, designed for nature to thrive,” she concludes.

 
 

AMVAC GreenSolutions Launches BioWake Dual-Use Biological Seed Lubricant (via AMVAC)

By David Frabotta, director of climate-smart content, Trust In Food: A new soybean-based seed lubricant aims to help corn and soybean farmers get seeds through their planters more easily while delivering plant health benefits including better nutrient uptake.
