2 - 3 pm: Supporting a Diverse Student Body, moderated by Kevin Dettmar, professor of English and director of the Humanities Studio at Pomona College
How can chairs support students and respond to mental health issues during the pandemic? How should faculty approach mandates to eliminate structural racism? What channels do experienced chairs use to support their students?
Department chairs can also register for the associated ten-person workshop and present their department- or institution-specific issues with peers, receive hands-on coaching, and problem-solve their most pressing issues.
