Support the Royal Canadian Geographical Society
Today is the last day to bid on the incredible items in the RCGS 2022 virtual silent auction! Take a look at some of the items below or browse all of the available items on the auction website. Bidding closes today at 8 p.m. EST, so don't wait!

We would like to thank everyone who attended the College of Fellows Annual Dinner this past Wednesday and appreciate those who have already shown their support for the Society. Our goal this year was to raise more than $175,000, which we are thrilled to say we have already surpassed — but let's keep the momentum going!

The RCGS Silent Auction is the Society’s largest fundraising event of the year and is supported through generous donations from our partners in the world of travel, experiences, art, apparel and so much more! Some of our donors this year include Margaret Atwood, Maple Leaf Adventures, Cunard, Viking, Eagle-Eye Tours, Exodus Travels, and RCGS Explorer-in-Residence Jill Heinerth.

All proceeds contribute to RCGS programs, including geographical curriculum development servicing more than 26,000 teachers and 728,000 students across Canada. Proceeds also contribute to grants and scholarships that support cutting-edge geographical research.

The Royal Canadian Geographical Society gratefully acknowledges the generosity of those who donated trips, experiences and items to support our fundraising efforts.

And of course, as the day progressed — we were down them — just because we felt comfortable... because we had these good people to help us out if we got into trouble." — Norma G., Ottawa Kayarafting participant

Spirit Bear fine art print by Daisy Gilardini
Great Bear Rainforest, British Columbia

Daisy Gilardini is a conservation photographer who specializes in the polar region, with a particular emphasis on Antarctic wildlife and North American bears.

Originally from Switzerland, Gilardini is now based in Vancouver, Canada. During a trip to India in 1989, Gilardini’s passion for photography was ignited. Since then, she has visited more than 70 countries, camera in hand. She fell in love with Antarctica during her first trip there in 1997 and has since devoted most of her time to photographing polar regions. In 20 years of polar exploration, Gilardini has joined more than 60 expeditions to Antarctica and the Arctic. Among her accomplishments, she has skied the final degree to the North Pole. Over the past 10 years, Gilardini has roamed extensively through bear country, from the Great Bear Rainforest in her home province of British Columbia to Alaska and the High Arctic. During the course of her photographic travels, she has documented the challenges facing North America’s bears, including the black bear, Kermode bear (often called spirit bear), grizzly and polar bear. Gilardini’s images have been published in international magazines such as Canadian Geographic, National Geographic, BBC Wildlife, Nature’s Best Photography and Outdoor Photography. Her images have also been used by high-profile NGO’s such as Greenpeace and the World Wildlife Fund. Since 2018, Gilardini has been a Photographer-in-Residence with Canadian Geographic and a Greenpeace Antarctic Ambassador.
