Dear John,
Thank you for subscribing to my e-newsletter; to receive issue-specific newsletters, in addition to my weekly update, click here. Also, please remember to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube for regular updates on how I am serving the people of South Carolina.
Veterans and Military Family Month:
Last week, the country all took a moment to celebrate the brave men and women who sacrifice their lives daily for our country. Not only did we celebrate all of our veterans on Veterans Day, but we also celebrated the 245th birthday of the Marine Corps! Freedom isn’t free and I am in awe and forever grateful to all service men and women. I thank you for your service.
COVID-19, Vaccines and Resources:
Other positives from the last week include announcements of progress on COVID-19 vaccine candidates from Pfizer and Moderna. I am devastated by the lives lost to the coronavirus, but I remain hopeful for our country’s future. Remember to stay safe by washing your hands, maintaining a safe distance from others, and wearing a mask. If you are interested in learning more about this vaccine, how it affects South Carolina, and other healthcare-related issues, sign up for our healthcare newsletter here.
Opportunity Zones:
Finally, a U.S. Government Accountability Office report came out last week showing the importance of the IMPACT Act, and just how relevant this legislation is for distressed communities. Some of these areas have already begun to benefit from Opportunity Zones, and I look forward to continuing to grow these Opportunity Zones and seeing these communities grow and thrive.
Sincerely,
|
