NEW WEBSITE FOR ACCESSING HELP WITH COST OF LIVING

A new website providing information on the wide range of advice and financial support available to people in Scotland has been launched.

Developed by the Scottish Government as a ‘one stop shop’ to help those struggling with the cost of living crisis, the website includes information on help available for households to meet rising energy, housing and other costs.

It also provides details on accessing Scottish and UK social security payments, including online benefit calculators, as well as wider health and wellbeing information.

Rural Visa Pilot Proposed

A proposal endorsed by Parliament for a bespoke rural visa pilot scheme for Scotland has been published.

This community-driven and employer-based migration proposal has been jointly developed by the Scottish Government, local authorities and key representatives from employers and partners based within remote and rural communities.

Scotmid is looking for Scottish products across all categories. Five food and drink producers from Scotland have the chance to win a promotional listing across Scotmid stores in 2023. Scotmid has teamed up with Scotland Food and Drink to give producers the chance to win one of five promotional listings across its stores.

Applications for producers are open now and close for entries on Monday 10th October.

Garden Room Manufacturer Grows In New Glenrothes Home

Rumipod, which designs and manufactures innovative, original garden rooms, has moved to new business units at Queensway Technology and Business Park, Glenrothes, becoming part of a new hub for innovative and future focused businesses. 

Designed and built by local architect Alasdair Baird and project manager Stewart Thomson, all components and materials are UK sourced.

Green Heat Accelerator Launched

The Green Heat Accelerator programme is a three month training course designed to support ambitious businesses involved in decarbonising heat. The programme is aimed at assisting start-up and small businesses with growth and network building within the low carbon heat technology sector.

The programme will be run by Carbon Limiting Technologies on behalf of Scottish Enterprise.

The Fife Tourism Partnership and Fife College are working together to offer World Host Training for local tourism businesses. The first three cohorts will be offered free of charge.

World Host is customer service training aimed at front-line staff who have regular interaction with customers.

Scottish Enterprise has launched its new Green Heat Hub Grand Challenge, which is designed to create a hub of expertise in green heat manufacturing.

Successful consortia can each access grants of up to £75,000 to develop project proposals which establish Scotland as an authority in the industry.

The Net Zero Transition Fund is a non-repayable grant of up to £3,000 for businesses in Fife. It can be used to help your business move toward operating with net zero carbon emissions. 

Priority is given to businesses in sectors such as energy, financial and business services, food and drink, manufacturing and engineering, and tourism.

Business Loans Scotland

The Scottish Growth Scheme is a package of financial support of up to £500 million for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Scotland. Backed by the Scottish Government, it aims to help businesses grow.

This funding includes Business Loans Scotland, which is a consortium of Scottish local authorities. They provide loans ranging from £25,000 to £100,000 (and in exceptional circumstances up to £250,000) to eligible businesses on behalf of the Scottish Government.
