Dear John Do,
“It takes a bit of courage to leave the big city,” says Kathleen Bartels, Mayor of Grabow. Around 20 creatives and digital nomads have been trying out rural life in the small Mecklenburg town of Grabow since early May as part of the “Summer of Pioneers” scheme. The goal is to lure city dwellers to the area with an all-round carefree package. In return, the pioneers are expected to work towards a more vibrant Grabow for everyone and to carry out joint projects with residents. In the latest Future Hamburg Talk, Mayor Bartels reports on the status quo of the exciting experiment.

Read our reports about insights from the AI Summit, how Hamburg scores in the 2024 Education Monitor and a survey commissioned by Otto sheds light on gift-giving in Germany.
