Fife Business Week 2022 has wrapped up its 13th year, giving hope and encouragement to businesses in a year that has presented many challenges.  Over 30 events were held for businesses of all sizes and in all sectors and these attracted 700 registrations from businesses.

Hosted by Fife Council’s Economic Development Team and the Business Gateway Fife team under the InvestFife brand, Fife Business Week is designed to support businesses to succeed and flourish whilst making Fife the best place to do business.

SME Loan Fund with Cashback

The SME Loan fund offers small and medium-sized enterprises based in Scotland unsecured, interest-free loans of up to £100,000 for renewable or energy efficiency projects. You may be able to get up to £30,000 as cashback. This is on a first come basis. The loan funding is provided by the Scottish Government.

The funding is available to help you pay for energy and carbon-saving upgrades in your business.

Funding For Self-build Homes

Self-builders who are unable to access standard bank lending can now apply for a loan of up to £175,000 to help with the development costs of their home.

The Self-Build Loan Fund reopened for applications on Monday 21st November and aims to support the delivery of good quality and energy-efficient housing, giving people more choice about the homes they want to live in.

Following the success of a pilot scheme in the Highlands, the fund was launched nationally in 2018, with 41 loans worth a total of £6.2 million approved to date.

The Scottish Industrial Energy Transformation Fund

The third window of the £34 million Scottish Industrial Energy Transformation Fund (SIETF) is now open. This offers an opportunity for industrial sites with high energy use to develop their proposals into applications for match-funded government grants, to support their transition to a low-carbon future. 

SIETF will help the industry to cut energy bills by investing in more efficient technologies while reducing emissions, by bringing down the costs and risks associated with investing in decarbonisation technologies.

Supporting Scottish Exports

A new plan to help Scotland’s life sciences sector grow its exports has been unveiled.

The strategy, An Export Plan for Scotland’s Life Sciences Sector, has been developed by the Scottish Government in partnership with Scottish Development International and the Industry Leadership Group for Life Sciences. 

It identifies key areas for action, including work to build on the existing customer base in the US and a focus on support mechanisms to help small and medium size companies target emerging markets.
