Scottish Partnership Forged To Bring Garment Manufacturing Back To The UK

Seahawk Apparel, the Scottish-based workwear garment manufacturer, has teamed up with SSEAMS, the apparel creative agency, to champion onshore manufacturing opportunities and support its investment plans to produce premium apparel at its specialist garment manufacturing facility in Glenrothes, Fife.

The duo will strategically support clothing brands through the product development and production process, providing a complete support system for customers with the principle of working together to create progressive and sustainable apparel.

Green Freeports Tax Relief To Incentivise Businesses to Invest

Incentives for businesses to invest in Scotland’s two new green freeports are proposed in a new consultation.

Changes to Land and Buildings Transaction Tax (LBTT) rules would offer full or partial relief from the tax on non-residential buildings and land in certain areas within the green freeports.

Relief would be available for a period of up to five years on land or property bought or leased for certain commercial activities.

Scotland To Take Part In UK Trial Of Warning System

Scotland will take part in a trial of a UK Government Emergency Alert mobile phone warning system which will use new mobile broadcasting technology to save lives during emergencies.  

A test message will be issued to mobile phones across the UK, including in Scotland, as part of a UK-wide test of the service on Sunday 23rd April.

UMi Debt Finance Scotland

The Scottish Growth Scheme is a package of financial support of up to £500 million for small and medium enterprises in Scotland. The scheme is backed by the Scottish Government and aims to help businesses grow.

This funding includes UMi Debt Finance Scotland, which is managed by UMi Scotland on behalf of the Scottish Government and provides loans of £25,001 to £250,000 to eligible businesses.
