Energy Bills Discount Scheme

Eligible non-domestic customers, including businesses and organisations such as charities, will receive a per-unit discount on their energy bills during the twelve-month period from April 2023 to March 2024 through the Energy Bills Discount Scheme (EBDS).

This scheme replaces the UK Government's Energy Bill Relief Scheme, which supported businesses and organisations from 1st October 2022 to 31st March 2023.

Bluebox’s Digital Passenger Experience To Be Deployed On Air Malta’s New Aircraft

Dunfermline-based, Bluebox Aviation Systems, has been selected by Air Malta to deploy a Blueview digital passenger experience on Air Malta’s new Airbus A320 neo aircraft. 

Blueview will be configured to offer Air Malta’s passengers an in-flight entertainment experience – entertainment, moving map, games, etc. The project with Air Malta represents Bluebox’s third customer deployment for its wireless digital services platform Blueview on an Airbus Airspace Link installation.

Marine Fund Scotland

This fund will support investments and jobs in seafood sectors, the marine environment and coastal communities in Scotland. It replaces the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) following the UK’s exit from the EU.

The EMFF supported the sustainable growth of the marine economy in coastal communities, in sectors such as fishing, aquaculture and seafood processing.

Tech Partnership Boosts Health Innovation

Innovative companies will be able to trial new health products in clinical settings across the country following a link-up between the Scottish Government’s £42 million Techscaler programme and the NHS.

Participants in the programme, which provides world class expertise and support to young businesses with high growth potential, are being offered access to NHS Regional Test Beds. These enable entrepreneurs to work alongside clinicians and have access to patients and anonymised data to test ideas, products and services.

And in a reciprocal agreement, firms already using the NHS Test Beds will automatically become part of the Techscaler network.

New Financial Year See Income Tax Changes

Changes to income tax in Scotland have come into force and are estimated to raise more than half a billion pounds of additional revenue this financial year to support vital public services.

The tax rates for earnings between £12,571 and £43,662 remain the same while earnings above £43,663 are now taxed at the Higher tax rate of 42 per cent.
