Scotland's Deposit Return Scheme Goes Live This Summer

Circularity Scotland was set up in 2021, with the specific purpose of administering Scotland’s Deposit Return Scheme (DRS).

The scheme will see consumers in Scotland paying a small amount of money (the deposit) for the container when they purchase a drink to take away. This is refunded in full when they return the empty container. 

Circularity Scotland has created a number of toolkits for Producers, Retailers and Hospitality businesses which can be accessed via its website.

SMART: SCOTLAND grants

The SMART: SCOTLAND grant is one of Scottish Enterprise's research and development grants that aims to support high-risk, highly ambitious projects.

It covers conducting feasibility studies. It’s only available to small and medium enterprises based in Scotland and supports activities that have a commercial endpoint.

Fife-based black pudding and haggis specialist, The Farmer’s Son,  has secured a deal to supply the world’s leading department store Selfridges London.

This is the latest success for The Farmer’s Son which already stocks its traditionally made haggis and black pudding in the high-end shops of Booths, organic food supermarket Whole Foods as well as numerous farm shops and delis across the UK.
