Apply Now for the Fife Start-Up Grant

Fife Council’s Start-Up Grant can potentiallyprovide individuals who intend to start a business in Fife with up to £500 towards the costs involved in starting to trade. Eligible costs include things such as equipment, stock and certification.

The Start-Up Grant is delivered by Business Gateway Fife on behalf of Fife Council and is fully funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

New Digital Skills Webinars Announced 

To support Scottish tourism businesses to build their digital skills (and make it easy for potential visitors to find them) Visit Scotland has partnered with Business Gateway to offer a fully funded webinar series covering topics including website user experience (UX), Instagram, analytics, search engine optimisation (SEO) and more.

These webinars will be available to all Scottish tourism businesses. Tune in and hear from industry experts providing digital support and advice across a range of topics.

Public Engagement - Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy (LHEES)

The public engagement exercise for Fife Council’s new Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy is now live.

The strategy and accompanying delivery plan will focus on improving energy efficiency and decarbonising heat for buildings across Fife to help move towards Net Zero and other key targets.

Methil Boosts Scottish Shipbuilding

A contract between Cory and one of its shipbuilding partners, Harland & Wolff, has resulted in the completion of the first barge at Harland & Wolff’s yard in Methil, Fife, since 1856.

This project has kept 115 people in active work at the Methil facility and enabled further employment, bringing the workforce up to around 150 people. Around 15 year one and year two apprentices have been able to work on this project, providing them with essential shipbuilding experience at this crucial early stage of their careers

Inward and Outward Processing

Inward Processing (IP) is used to obtain relief from customs duties and import VAT on goods that are imported from outside the UK for processing. The basic principle is to allow UK exporters to be more competitive by reducing their processing costs, Processes that are permitted under IP include manufacturing sorting and packing repair and refurbishment.

This half day training course will examine the principles and terminology of IP and some of the operations available within IP and will look briefly at Outward Processing.
