£5 million To Unlock Scotland’s Entrepreneurial Talent.

Extra investment to grow and nurture high-growth businesses and entrepreneurs has been announced.

The £5 million package will help deliver end-to-end support for Scotland’s start-up companies. It forms part of an ongoing to commitment to deliver on the recommendations of the Logan report into developing a world-class technology sector, and the Pathways report which is focussed on expanding the number of women starting and scaling-up businesses.

Start Up Loans – from The British Business Bank

A Start Up Loan from the British Business Bank is a personal loan for business purposes for a term of one to six years at a fixed rate of six per cent per annum. The loan is unsecured, so there’s no need to put forward any assets or guarantors to support an application.

All owners or partners in a business can individually apply for from £500 up to £25,000 each, with a maximum of £100,000 available per business.

National Lottery Game Changers

The National Lottery Awards are the annual search to find the UK's favourite Lottery-funded projects. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first National Lottery draw in 1994, they are on the hunt to find 30 inspirational people who have achieved amazing things across the UK in the arts, heritage, sport and community in the last 30 years, with the help of National Lottery funding.

Nominations must be funded by The National Lottery or be associated with a project which has received National Lottery funding.

International Trade Pathway - Smart Duty Management Part 1 - Inward and Outward Processing 

Inward Processing (IP) is used to obtain relief from customs duties and import VAT on goods that are imported from outside the UK for processing.  The basic principle is to allow UK exporters to be more competitive by reducing their processing costs.  Processes that are permitted under IP include manufacturing, sorting, and packing, repair and refurbishment.

Under the UK Customs Code, traders are allowed three qualifying movements per year.  Those wishing to make more movements will require an authorisation from HMRC. This can be withdrawn from those that do not demonstrate compliance.
