Pitch Up! and Grow: Invitation To Businesses To Come And Use Rural Land

Pitch Up! is returning to Balcaskie Estate at Fife but is now part of a fast-growing network of farms across Britain all offering land and the chance to get involved in a community of enterprises.
Pitch Up! invites new and existing businesses to present their ideas for a rural enterprise. The scheme seeks to identify like-minded organisations and individuals that will make use of fertile farmland and will work collaboratively within an existing community. Those businesses benefit from investment, shared expertise, distribution, staff and marketing opportunities and crucially, grow within a dynamic environment that focuses on the circular economy.

Fife Start-Up Grant

Fife Council’s Start-Up Grant can provide individuals who intend to start a business in Fife with up to £500 towards the costs involved in starting to trade. Eligible costs include things such as equipment, stock and certification.
You may be eligible if you intend to start a new business based in Fife, or have started one in the past six months.

Build Fife 2025

Fife Council invites you to participate in Build Fife. A programme run in partnership with Hub East Central Scotland and Tier One and Tier Two contractors aimed at companies in construction and associated sectors in Fife with aspirations for growth.
The programme runs weekly from 30th January to 19th March 2025. During this time, you’ll learn from business experts, engage directly with Tier One contractors, and develop relationships with fellow businesses.

More Support For The Delivery of New Homes

Actions to help planning authorities will increase the speed of approvals, deliver more new homes and grow the number of planners.
A new Housing Planning Hub will increase the rate at which homes with planning permission are delivered, stimulating Scotland’s housing supply and supporting economic growth. Three times the number of current student bursaries will also be made available to encourage more future planners and address staff shortages.

Workforce Mobility Project to play a crucial role in shaping efficient & sustainable transport network

Funded by the Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region Deal, the project aims to help Fife Council understand key travel patterns across the region to inform transport, spatial planning and economic decision making.
The team is in the process of trying to gather data from employers and higher education providers, which will help it map out where future improvements could possibly be made to public transport and active travel route provision.
