Rufflets St Andrews Celebrates 100 Years Built in 1924, as a private home for the widow of a Dundee merchant, the property was transformed in 1952 by George and Margaret Cook, alongside business partners Anna and James Meldrum, into one of Scotland’s first and finest country house hotels.
Today, Rufflets remains a families-run business. It is owned by Mark and Chris Forrester, grandsons of two of the original founders, their mother, Ann Murray-Smith, who took over the business from her parents in 1976, and Marco Truffelli, an Italo-British hotelier who partnered with them in 2020.
