Here's what's making news today in New Orleans.
with Bob WarrenYou’re no doubt following Delta, the cruel October hurricane now churning on a projected course that takes it to Louisiana by week’s end. The latest news this morning is that it is now a Category 4 storm. Yes, really. The course takes it to the Yucatan Peninsula, then into the Gulf of Mexico and on a projected track to Louisiana. Things can change in hurry; check with NOLA.com for the latest hurricane news. Be safe everyone. Naturally, Hurricane Delta is dominating our local news cycle today. But did you catch the story out of Baton Rouge that they’re going to allow alcohol sales at Tiger Stadium starting with this Saturday night’s game between LSU and Missouri? Part of the “adjusted” coronavirus protocols? Wilson Alexander has that story and Scott Rabalais writes about it and the hurricane in his latest column. A hurricane, a pandemic and alcohol sales – boy, now that's a 2020 trifecta. In other news, Mayor LaToya Cantrell has announced furloughs for city workers, another symptom of the pandemic's economic wreckage; Doug MacCash is tracking some overnight vandalism at City Park; and Luke Johnson writes that the Saints’ offense was fire on Sunday. The defense? Three words: red zone blues. Those stories and more are in today’s Lunch Line. As always, thanks for giving us a spot at your table. BW |
