We’re accepting films through FilmFreeway until Monday, June 4, 2018.

If your film is programmed, you have a chance of winning the A&E Short Filmmakers Award for best film. We accept films released after January 1, 2013.

All NSI Online Short Film Festival winners receive a complimentary Friend membership for the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television and are qualified to be nominated for a Canadian Screen Award (if award criteria are met).

Your film must be less than 30 mins long. Drama, comedy, animation, documentary, sci-fi, horror, music video and experimental are all eligible and must be made by a Canadian writer, director or producer.

Trey Anthony, Trevor Anderson, Alyson Richards head to financing forum at 2018 Inside Out fest

Projects How Black Mothers Say I Love You from writer Trey Anthony (NSI Totally Television) and Docking from writer/director Trevor Anderson (NSI Drama Prize) and producer Alyson Richards (NSI Drama Prize, NSI Features First) have been selected for the Inside Out’s LGBTQ film finance forum taking place on May 24 and 25.

The forum brings together Canadian and international feature film projects in development with a slate of international industry executives for professional development and one-on-one pitch meetings. The films in this year’s forum showcase some of the most exciting voices in LGBTQ cinema.

NSI grads benefit from NOHFC investment

Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) recently announced funding for 18 film and TV productions filming in Northern Ontario, with a total investment of $24 million.

Included among those 18 productions are several from NSI grads:

  • TV series Bad Blood from exec producers Mark Montefiore (NSI Totally Television) and Virginia Rankin (NSI Global Marketing)
  • Feature film Stranded from producer Borga Dorter (NSI Totally Television)
  • Feature film Angelique’s Island from producer Floyd Kane (NSI Totally Television)
