Congrats to Lisa Rose Snow (NSI Drama Prize) who is one of five winners of a 2018 Telefilm Canada New Voices Award.

The Telefilm Canada New Voices Awards are given to five emerging screenwriters from across Canada. The award provides each winner with a complimentary registration to the ninth annual Toronto Screenwriting Conference (TSC) on June 23 and 24 plus an exclusive lunch with members of the TSC Advisory Committee and an executive from Telefilm.

NSI grads win AMPIA Rosie Awards

The 2018 Alberta Media Production Industries Association (AMPIA) Rosie Awards were given out on Saturday, May 12 in Calgary, and several NSI grads won awards:

  • Last of the Fur Traders – Frederick Kroetsch (NSI Business For Producers), Rebecca Campbell (TELUS Optik™ Local) – best production reflecting cultural diversity
  • All the World’s a Stage – Sandi Somers (NSI Features First) – best non-fiction short.

We’re accepting films through FilmFreeway until Monday, June 4, 2018.

If your film is programmed, you have a chance of winning the A&E Short Filmmakers Award for best film. We accept films released after January 1, 2013.

All NSI Online Short Film Festival winners receive a complimentary Friend membership for the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television and are qualified to be nominated for a Canadian Screen Award (if award criteria are met).

Your film must be less than 30 mins long. Drama, comedy, animation, documentary, sci-fi, horror, music video and experimental are all eligible and must be made by a Canadian writer, director or producer.
