Apply to Gimli Film Fest’s 2018 RBC Emerging Filmmaker Competition

RBC Emerging Filmmaker Competition / Link to Gimli Film Festival

Are you an emerging filmmaker? Do you have an idea for a short film you are desperate to make? Are you over the age of 18 and a resident of Manitoba?

Are you prepared to complete a brilliant three- to five-minute short film in one year’s time for a world premiere screening at the 19th edition of the Gimli Film Festival?

If so, Gimli Film Festival wants you to submit to this year’s RBC Emerging Filmmaker Competition.

The fest will give entrants an opportunity to pitch their project ideas to a panel of professional producers in front of a live audience during this year’s festival.

The winner receives $10K from RBC to make their short, a story editing mentorship with NSI and a premiere screening of their film at the 2019 Gimli Film Festival.

Nadine Valcin curates #GEOGRAPHIES2018 program Here and There

Nadine Valcin (NSI Drama Prize) has curated a program of films for digital distribution platform VUCAVU.

#GEOGRAPHIES2018 program Here and There includes five films exploring ideas about the places we come from and the places we come to inhabit.

Nadine’s selection is the first of four free curated programs that will be released from May until September 2018 and are part of VUCAVU’s #GEOGRAPHIES2018 series which reflects on notions of memory and identity as being connected to the physical – whether that be physical spaces, built architectures, the body landscape and the written word.

NSI Features First-developed Venus held over for second week in Toronto

NSI Features First-developed Venusfrom writer/director Eisha Marjara and producer Joe Balass, has been held over in Toronto for a second week of screenings.

Venus continues to screen through May 31 at Cineplex Yonge-Dundas in Toronto.

Genders, generations and cultures collide in this comedy about the modern family unit which follows a transitioning woman who discovers she’s the father of a 14-year-old boy.
