Telefilm has announced their support of four Indigenous feature film projects, with an investment of $3 million. NSI grads are involved in all four picks:

Canada’s only female Dangerous Offender fights to reconcile the loss of her daughter while struggling to retain her humanity within the solitary confinement of prison.

  • Running Home from writer/director Zoe Hopkins and producer Laura Milliken (both Featuring Aboriginal Stories Program)

A magical romantic dramedy about Beck, a single mom to 10-year-old Eric. Her grief from her own mother’s suicide has caused her to run from all commitments, but now Beck realizes she has to do something big to win Eric back.

  • Tales of an Urban Indian from producer Laura Milliken

A darkly comic romp following the life of Simon Douglas as he transitions from life on a small Indian reservation to skid row in the big city and finally to salvation.

  • Monkey Beach from writer/director Loretta Todd (Featuring Aboriginal Stories Program)

When Lisa returns to her village following the tragic death of her cousin Tabitha, the mythical visions she’s tried hard to suppress come back, with force.
