NSI Features First-developed Venus now available on streaming platforms in the US and Canada Posted: 24 Oct 2018 01:19 PM PDT NSI Features First-developed Venus, from writer/director Eisha Marjara and producer Joe Balass, is now available in the US and Canada on platforms iTunes, Amazon Prime Video and Google Play. It’s also been acquired by LGBT* film distribution company Wolfe Video. Genders, generations and cultures collide in this comedy about the modern family unit, which follows a transitioning woman who discovers she’s the father of a 14-year-old boy. • • • NSI Features First is a development training launch pad for producer/writer teams looking to produce their first or second feature film with strong commercial appeal. Over 20 feature films developed through the program have been produced since 1997. NSI Features First is funded by Presenting Sponsor Telefilm Canada; Supporting Sponsors Super Channel, Corus Entertainment and Breakthrough Entertainment; Provincial Sponsor Creative BC through the Daryl Duke and William Vince Scholarship Fund; and Industry Supporters William F. Scott Westby named one of Avenue Calgary’s top 40 under 40 Posted: 24 Oct 2018 01:13 PM PDT Scott Westby (NSI Features First) is named in the top 40 under 40 list published by Avenue Calgary. Scott is one of the faces behind Full Swing Productions alongside business partner and fellow NSI Features First grad Matt Watterworth. Full Swing works with more than 100 local, national and international clients on corporate video projects and creative narrative films. Scott spoke to Avenue Calgary about his belief in the economic power of Alberta’s film industry. Scott and Matt’s first feature film, In Plainview, earned the highest number of award nominations at this year’s Alberta Film and Television Awards. Upcoming feature Jonesin’ sees Scott make his directorial debut and is set to debut in 2019.
